Morong Bataan Philippines Hotels/Resorts
A growing and exciting region awaits those seeking adventure at a new destination. The Bataan Peninsula has a number of undiscovered beach resorts in the Philippines, yet they are only a couple hours’ drive from Manila. There resorts are an easy 20 to 30 minute drive from the south gate of Subic Bay Metropolitan Area.
Bataan can be considered a hero's territory. If you visit you may want to learn a bit about the dramatic history of the region. During the onset of World War II, men from Morong, Bataan volunteered for the army in massive numbers. Later after the fall of Bataan all the way up til it was finally liberated, groups known as boonie guerrillas fought and sabotaged the Japanese occupying forces on a regular basis. On April 9, 1942, the Bataan peninsula was the location of the brutal Japanese led Bataan Death March where 57,000 Filipino and American prisoners of war passed through these territories on their way to Camp O'Donnell in Capas, Tarlac. It is estimated that somewhere between 5,650 to 18,000 POW prisoners died on this march.
